The Federal Council wants to ensure Switzerland’s connectivity

Every year, the annual meeting of the Swiss Aviation Platform brings together representatives from the Swiss aviation sector and the cantons that host the country’s main airports to take stock and plan for the future. For the AGAA, the commitments made by Federal Councillor Albert Rösti, who is responsible for transport, are reassuring.

At this meeting in Bern in early September, the Federal Councillor responsible for transport emphasised the key role of aviation both for the national economy and for Switzerland’s international integration.

More specifically, Albert Rösti stated that it was ‘important to maintain current operating schedules in order to ensure Switzerland’s air connectivity, even in the context of environmental remediation procedures’.

In other words, while consultations are underway on the revision of the Aviation Act, the confederation does not plan to reduce opening hours and therefore ban night flights. The SBAA welcomes these initial developments, as late flights can arrive and remain very important for business aviation given the flexibility required for this activity, which is primarily a working tool serving Switzerland’s economic and diplomatic actors.
